Asset Transfer - Survey Newmilns Regeneration Association have expressed an interest to East Ayrshire Council to asset transfer an area of derelict land on Nelson Street, backing on to Brown Street (the former Social Security Office). The asset transfer would be dependent on a robust business plan, a successful application for grant funding and support from the local community. The desire for a community garden was established at a previous community consultation (the land where the former block of flats stood at the bottom of Borebrae), but the area was deemed unsuitable for a community garden for various reasons. Newmilns Regeneration Association have been looking for a suitable site since this date and want to establish if a Community Garden would still be of interest to the community. We have now formed a small group of volunteers to take this project forward, but as usual, we would need more volunteers to join the group to ensure the success of the project going forward. The proposal would be for a series of raised beds to make the garden accessible to all, with a storage facility sited on the land for storage of tools and equipment and other assets held by community groups.
