The NRA Float won 1st Prize at Newmilns Gala Day on Saturday!
A lot of behind the scenes work was going on last week - Newmilns Regeneration Association had two floats in the Newmilns Gala Day. The first was a Heritage float, focusing on the lace manufacturing which was the main industry back then. Lace was donated by Haddow Aird & Crerar Ltd and by MYB Textiles and the team did a great job decorating it - right down to the detail of an old sewing machine and the low darning stools!
The second float was to promote the Food Festival in September, so we went with the theme of Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Great costumes supplied by theatrical and costume hirers Visual Statement Costume Hire of Glasgow, artwork on the Food Festival boards painted by Frank at Artisan Artworks, a cupcake by Alison Brown Creations, chair covers and bows thanks to Made Marvellous and a lot of help from the whole team at the NRA putting it all together!
A great honour to get 1st Prize! Well done to the Gala Committee for organising another great event.
