Christmas Fayre
The Newmilns Christmas Fayre will be held in the Morton Hall on Saturday 3rd December between 4pm-6pm. The Christmas Light Switch on will take place at 5pm and Newmilns & Galston Brass Band will be playing at the gardens next to the church.
There will be many groups, businesses and crafters all from Newmilns, so please come along to support local businesses!
We are also launching our Grand Christmas Raffle - we have 8 different hampers, a large handmade Christmas Teddy complete with a sack of goodies, plus lots of other prizes!
Tickets are now available for you to buy, simply contact us on Facebook or email hello@lovenewmilns.org and we will send you details of how to pay.
Tickets are priced at £1.00 each or £5.00 for a book of 5.
Raffle tickets will also be on sale at Tesco Galston on Saturday 26th November from 9am to 6pm and also at the Christmas Fayre itself.
The draw will take place at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday 3rd December.

Newmilns Regeneration Association are delighted to release £3,224 from the seventh round of funding from Newmilns Lottery Community Fund. This is our biggest release of funds yet. We are delighted to announce the successful applicants for the 7th round of the Newmilns Lotto Community Fund, totalling an amazing £3,224 !! A big thanks to everyone who participates in the Newmilns Lotto, without whom this would not have been possible The following Newmilns groups have been successful in their applications and have been awarded the amounts detailed below: **£490 - Gilfoot Tara Action Group toward the cost of G in the Park activities **£490 - Townhead Tara Action Group toward Spooktacular Pumpkin Trail Halloween Event **£330 - Newmilns Primary and ECC Parent Council towards a used tyre play garden at the school **£160 - Newmilns Gala towards overhead costs for fundraising event. **£490 - 16th Ayrshire Scout Group (Newmilns) towards Summer camp costs at Lapwing Lodge Outdoor Centre **£160 - Newmilns Brownies & Rainbows towards end of term treat ice cream van and party **£350 - Newmilns Regeneration Association towards balloon modeller & face painter Xmas Fayre/Grotto **£140 - Newmilns & Greenholm Community Council towards hire of a piper to lead Remembrance Day parade **£124 - Newmilns & Greenholm Community Council towards landscaping & fenceposts at Welcome Garden & Wildlife site entrance **£490 - Newmilns & Greenholm AFC towards rain jackets for the football team All applicants were successful and grants totalling £3,224 were awarded. Thank you to everyone involved in the decision panel, and of course to our Lotto manager Bob Astill who reconciles the payments and carries out the monthly draws. Thanks to our monthly sponsors too, which allows the costs of running the lotto to be covered (bank charges etc) while not affecting the winnings or the Community Fund. Applications are now invited from Newmilns groups to apply for part of, or the whole of this fund. Funds must be used for projects or improvements to benefit people living in Newmilns & Greenholm. Application forms are available by emailing lotto@lovenewmilns.org . The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 25th May 2025. The successful applicants will be notified by 4th June 2025. The final decisions on the allocation of funds will be made by the Newmilns Lottery sub-group, and successful applicants will be notified by the end of January. This would not have been possible without the people who participate in the Newmilns Lottery every month, where half of the money raised goes directly to the Community Fund and the other half to prize money. The Process Newmilns Regeneration Association have been working behind the scenes with local artists Frank and Mandy Carty of Artisan Artworks to come up with a proposal for murals which depict the history of Newmilns. We have drawn up a Community Consultation in order to get the views of the residents of Newmilns and would really appreciate your input to our Survey, link at the bottom of the page. This consultation will also be displayed on the Community Notice Boards. We will also be displaying the proposals at the Newmilns Christmas Fayre on Saturday 30th November in the Morton Hall (paper copies of the surveys will also be available here to complete). Artisan Artworks also plan to visit Newmilns Primary School to present and explain the proposals to the children. The survey will run from Sunday 24th November until Sunday 22nd December 2024. The Benefits The aim is to boost footfall to the town, which will, in turn, support the local economy. Across Scotland, mural trails attract tourists from around the globe, and we plan to integrate the Newmilns murals into these broader trails. Frank and Mandy Carty are involved in the Glasgow Mural Trail, a portfolio of 31 murals in the city centre and you can read more about it here Glasgow Mural Trail Additionally, the murals will feature in our Heritage App, currently under development by our Heritage Group, to further enhance their accessibility and appeal. By encouraging visitors to slow down and appreciate their surroundings, we hope they’ll take time to enjoy the art and its connection to the local area and it's rich history in lace weaving. Since the murals are outdoors, they provide an inclusive experience for everyone to enjoy whenever it suits them. We also want to spark thought-provoking conversations through the stories and themes portrayed in the artwork. The Locations It is proposed to site each of the murals on two gable end walls - one facing east and the other facing west. Two potential sites have been identified for the murals, and discussions have already taken place with the owners of both properties, who have indicated their willingness to take part in the project. Site 1 Property adjacent to Lady Flora's at 133 Main Street - currently a private residence and prior to this was the factory of W.W. Wales Ltd, Butcher. Site 2 The Loudoun Arms, gable wall at Castle Street. This is a Category B-listed building, built during the 18th century with links to the Covenanters and Rabbie Burns.
